Home Addition Project - Algonquin, Illinois Residence
Project Description: The customers live on a golf course. They had an existing screened in porch that was not being used. They wanted a heated and cooled four season room that took advantage of the fabulous views.
The Solution: For this four season room home addition, Scholl Construction enclosed, insulated, and installed Pella windows. Since heating and air conditioning was a particular challenge, we built up the floor and installed a heating and cooling system under the ceramic tile with a separate zone independent of the rest of the home. We also installed a direct vent fireplace so the customers could enjoy an unobstructed view of the golf course while enjoying the ambiance of the fireplace. We placed a limestone hearth and cultured stone behind and below the fireplace to enhance the experience. We also installed brick pavers for easy access to the home addition. We replaced the entire roof, removed and replaced all gutters, painted the exterior, replaced 2 additional exterior doors and sealcoated the driveway.
The customers love their new room and tell me they spend more time out there than in any other room in the home. They especially enjoy the windows, the fireplace and the comfort from the heating and cooling system. The project was completed in 2 months.
